If you're a DirecTV customer and want to access your DirecTV set top box through your computer, DirecTV2PC is the application for you.
To be absolutely clear, this application is specifically for people who already have a DirecTV subscription, and is only compatible with certain DirecTV set top boxes, so do you your homework before downloading and make sure you have the right box. What the software does is give you access to your DirecTV subscription through your computer. Furthermore, you can access the contents of your set top box, allowing you watch content you've previously recorded. The user interface will feel familiar to anyone who has user a DirecTV box, adding a nice layer of consistency to the set up.
DirecTV2PC is a good application for a very specific use case—DirecTV customers needing to access their DVR through their PC. Unfortunately it has been all but abandoned by DirecTV in favour of a different platform, which means no further updates. If you have no other options, this should do, but it may be more practical use DirecTVs newest application.
